Larry Pressler maintains memberships on the boards of directors or boards of advisors for seven well-known and respected technology and investment companies. In a recent interview for the publication Directors and Boards, Pressler said of these memberships, "It is such a relief to be on a board of directors or board of advisors where you don't have to deal with partisanship--which has been so poisonous the last few years in Congress. I think that keeps good people out of government."

The reason Pressler is frequently asked to serve as a Director of Corporations is that he had considerable experience in the US Congress. By the time he was serving his third Senate term, Pressler had gained considerable seniority on four Senate committees handling matters of key importance to the United States. His crowning achievement was serving as the powerful chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation during the 104th congress--one of the committee's most historic and productive legislative sessions on record. No committee during the 104th Congress produced more legislation that actually became law than Pressler's Commerce Committee. During the 104th Congress, the Committee reported 97 bills and resolutions out of Committee. Of these, 87 became public law--an outstanding achievement during a Congress known for its legislative gridlock. Pressler was the author of the Telecommunications Act of 1996--The controlling law in high tech communications to this day.

Alexander Calhoun, senior partner in a major corporate law firm in San Francisco, and a leading authority on corporate governance, has said in a previous interview that Pressler “is of inestimable value to the board because of his knowledge of telecommunications issues and his ability to explain the regulatory aspects of the industry to the board.”

Pressler sits on the board of directors for Infosys Technologies, Inc. (http://www.infy.com), an international software company based in Bangalore India. Infosys is one of the world’s top ranked software companies, generating $1 billion USD in annual sales, $300 million USD in profits, $8 billion USD in market capitalization, and has about 11,000 employees worldwide. Senator Pressler visits Bangalore several times year as a member of the board of directors. Pressler is also on the advisory boards of several other companies.
