President Obama Announces More Key Administration Posts, 11/10/09

WASHINGTON – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individuals to key administration posts:."

President Obama also announced two members of the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad:

Larry Pressler, Member, Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad
Former Senator Larry Pressler served as a Member of Congress for 22 years—four years in the U.S. House of Representatives and eighteen years as a U.S. Senator from the state of South Dakota. Senator Pressler sat on numerous Committees during his tenure, including the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he served for sixteen years. He chaired the Senate Commerce Committee. He also twice served as a Congressional Delegate to the United Nations. In addition to his work in Congress, Senator Pressler serves as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has lectured at several universities in the United States and overseas. He was awarded a Fulbright grant as a Professor at the University of Bologna, Italy where he lectured in International Relations for five months during the 2009 Spring Semester. Senator Pressler was a Rhodes Scholar and served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Army.

Emil Fish, Member, Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad
Emil Fish is the Founder and President of the Bardejov Jewish Preservation Committee, which works to preserve and create a memorial to the survivors of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Jewish Suburbia in Bardejov, Slovakia. In addition, he owns and operates Fish Construction Co., Inc. and Regency Park Senior Living, Inc. in California. Mr. Fish has also served as President of the Congregation Shaarei Tefila, of the Orthodox Union’s West Coast Office, and of Hillel Hebrew Academy. He also served as a member of the Jewish Community Relations Committee of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation. Mr. Fish, who was born in Bardejov, Slovakia, was caught and sent with his mother and sister to Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp, where he was later liberated in 1945. He immigrated and settled in the United States in 1955.
